Alec wants fewer folks in his life
Less is more for Alec Baldwin. The “30 Rock” star says the COVID-19 pandemic has changed his perspective, leading to a need for fewer people in his life.
“The lockdown has taught me that we need less in our lives,” Baldwin tweeted Sunday. “Less clothes, less talk, less food, less media. Above all, less people.”
The tweet comes amid a controversy in which the actor’s wife, Hilaria, was accused of fabricating an accent and ties to Spain.
In reply to what he meant by less people, Baldwin wrote: “Less people in your life. Quality over quantity. Only let people into your life that genuinely add something.”
His wife’s heritage garnered widespread attention last month. In a post on Instagram, Hilaria, 37, wrote she was born in Boston but “grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain.”
“Yes, I am a white girl,” she said in an accompanying Instagram video at the time. “Let’s be very clear that Europe has a lot of white people in there. My family is white. Ethnically, I am a mix of many, many, many things. Culturally, I grew up with the two cultures.”
The mother of five also said she and Baldwin are raising their children bilingual and celebrate both cultures as a family.
“In this country, I would use the name Hillary, and in Spain, I would use the name Hilaria. ... I identify more with Hilaria because that’s what my family calls me,” she said in the video.
Baldwin, 62, has come to his wife’s defense in social media posts of his own, including last month when he replied “Go f—k yourself” to an Instagram user accusing Hilaria of fraudulent behavior.
In a comment to another Instagram user at the time, Baldwin wrote that his wife “was born in Boston but grew up in Spain. You got it?”
Baldwin and Hilaria have been married since 2012. They welcomed their fifth child together, son Eduardo Pau Lucas, in September.
