Investigat­ors look at ‘black box’ in Tiger crash

Detectives are looking at data from the “black box” of Tiger Woods’ SUV to get a clearer picture of what occurred during the Southern California rollover crash that seriously injured the golf star, authoritie­s said Wednesday.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said traffic investigat­ors executed a search warrant Monday to retrieve data from the device in the Genesis SUV Woods was driving.

There was no immediate informatio­n regarding what was found in the black box.

ORIOLES’ ALTOBELLI DIES

Joe Altobelli,

the manager who led the Orioles to their most recent World Series title in 1983, died Wednesday. He was 88.

The Orioles confirmed Altobelli’s death, saying in a statement that the manager was a “tremendous leader.”

Altobelli was hired by the Orioles before the 1983 season — replacing future Hall of Famer Earl Weaver — and immediatel­y found success. The team’s roster included future Hall of Famers Eddie Murray, Cal Ripken Jr. and Jim Palmer.

Rasheem Dunn scored a season-high 21 points as St. John’s defeated Providence, 81-67.

NOVA TAKES BIG EAST

Justin Moore scored 24 points to help No. 10 Villanova capture the Big East title with a 72-60 victory over a No. 14 Creighton team playing with coach Greg McDermott under fire for using language evocative of slavery.

McDermott, who had apologized for urging his players to “stay on the plantation” in a postgame locker room talk following a loss over the weekend, said on Creighton’s pregame radio show that he offered to resign. McDermott said had a long meeting with players on Sunday night and said he saw

“pain in their face(s)” and hoped “one mistake doesn’t define you.”

WINSLOW II GETS 14 YEARS

Former NFL player Kellen Winslow II was sentenced Wednesday to 14 years in prison for multiple rapes and other sexual offenses against five women in Southern California, including one who was homeless when he attacked her in 2018.

The 37-year-old son of Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow declined to comment before his sentence, saying his lawyers had advised him not to speak.
