LOOSE DENTURES?
Little Neck: There has been a rise in anti-Asian hate crimes in New York City and around the country since the start of the pandemic, including a recent attack in Flushing on a female Asian senior citizen. The perpetrator of this cowardly and disgusting attack has thankfully been brought to justice by the NYPD Hate Crimes Division, but unfortunately, this type of racially biased crime has become all too common.
We celebrate that we are the most diverse county on the planet, with more than 200 languages spoken here. We want our neighborhoods to be shining beacons of diversity, inclusion and what makes the United States of America such an incredible place. This kind of discrimination is totally unacceptable to us.
We understand that this is not the first wave of racist or anti-immigrant sentiment to attempt to terrorize our neighborhoods. We feel it is important that we at the community board level, being the governmental agency closest to the people, stand up and say with one voice that we have opposed this despicable behavior in the past, we fight against it now and we will continue to do so as a community of neighbors forever.
We also know that we are not in this fight alone, but with partners across law enforcement, our elected officials, civic associations, sister agencies and fellow New Yorkers. We will not rest until every resident on each block feels safe in their homes and on our streets.
Michael Budabin, chair, Queens Community Board 11
