Time warp Strategic guide

-

Manhattan: I woke at two minutes to 2 a.m. Sunday morning, yawned and snuggled under the cover when whoosh — half-asleep and stone-cold sober, I lost one hour. 3 a.m.: I’m wide-awake, pondering where the heck my hour went to.

Susan A. Stark

Dodged a bullet

Prospect, Conn.: I knew the J-Lo and A-Rod relationship was not going to last. I was actually surprised it lasted since 2017. Thank goodness Steve Cohen was the owner sweepstakes-winner of the Mets. Can you imagine if J-Rod were the owners? What a mess the Mets might have been in if the two of them started disputing how to run the team! It could have affected them as badly as the Wilpon family ownership problems did! Whew!

Joseph Cardinale

Not enough

Bronx: People work to make a living. Even in parts of the country where the cost of living is at its lowest, $7.25 an hour is not a living. If you don’t know someone who will let you stay with them, the only housing that income will get you is a homeless shelter. $15 an hour is still a poverty wage, so settling for that is a compromise. You argue, “The minimum should rise, although more than doubling to $15 an hour by 2025 seems to be too high, too quickly” (“Stick to COVID relief,” editorial, March 13). Actually, it’s not close to being enough even if you raised it immediately. Waiting until 2025 is indefensible.

Richard Warren

Shared sentiments

Manhattan: Great group of letters to the editor on Saturday. Totally agree with those Voicers who said GOP states should not get stimulus money and also that Dems should hammer away to the American public that it was the Dems who passed the COVID bill without one Republican vote.

Report card

Fishkill, N.Y.: So this is what normality feels like! President Biden has changed the trajectory of this nation in a mere 50 days. Competency has replaced incompetency. Empathy has replaced callousness. Truth has replaced lies and conspiracy theories. Our allies are back. The climate’s health matters again. We are finally responding to Russian bounties on American soldiers. Most important, vaccines are being readied under the full authorization of the Defense Production Act. Needed relief is on the way to millions. Sleepy Joe is sleepwalking through history with the likes of FDR and LBJ, bringing transformational change to ordinary Americans. Trump’s plutocrats are no longer the focus. Way to go Joe!

Gerald Browne

No thanks

Bronx: Voicer Mary Caggiano should check her facts. The Pfizer vaccine used zero federal money. In addition, the first supplies went to Europe because the idiot Trump refused to buy any for this country, which is just one reason he deserves zero credit.

Juanita M. Johnson

Danka schoen

Effort, Pa.: To Voicer Mary Caggiano: The Pfizer vaccine was developed by a European company and funded by Germany. Thank Angela Merkel, not Donald Trump. Kathleen Slattery

Omaha: Kudos to Karen Hinton on her article “How to counter penis politics” (op-ed, Feb. 24). Excellent article!

Tom Dahulick

Dressed up

Staten Island: Looks like King Andrew is going with the Chin Gigante defense, walking around wrapped in a blanket and drinking from a bottle. Not gonna help your pervertedness. My father used to say, “What do you get when you put a bow tie on a snake? A snake with a bow tie.”

Tony Fasano

Unmoved

Whitestone: Am I the only person in New York who likes Gov. Cuomo and wants him to stay on as governor in spite of all the unproven claims of sexual harassment? I hope Cuomo doesn’t let the political cowards turn him into a Frankenstein — that is, treat him like former Sen. Al Franken, who did nothing wrong but was driven from office by #MeToo fanatics. What would Joan Rivers say about the attacks on Cuomo? I think she would tell his accusers to “Grow up!”

Dorothy Lyons

Critique’s critique

Manhattan: Memo to Italianhating, ethnically challenged

Voicer Michael Fahlbusch: As someone who suffered serious sexual harassment and abuse when I was 25, which led to the loss of my broadcasting career and my performing aspirations for 30 years, I still believe in due process, investigations and giving credit where it is due. My abuser was a popular entertainer for 50 years. While I fault his sociopathic personality, his emotional violence, his bullying and the irreversible damage he did, I still recognize his talent. Yes, Italians are touchy-feely, which is often an ethnic conceit. Let Cuomo be investigated like anyone else. Calling Linda Stasi’s article (“We were right to laud,” op-ed) “garbage” because Fahlbusch didn’t agree with it just makes him the bully. I happen to agree with Stasi. Jews and Italians are both touchy-feely, and unless it’s on someone’s “private parts” or is a chronic display, it might be an annoyance but it’s not generally considered workplace abuse or harassment.

Sam Katz

No foul

Jamaica: Our governor is denying wrongdoing because he did no wrong. When did it become a problem to seek companionship regardless of your position of authority? These accusations of harassment, in my opinion, are nothing more than a lonely man needing some affection who tried to get a date. These women need to grow some balls! I miss Linda Stasi! Sandra Brockington

Loyal silence

Bronx: Is everyone as disgusted as I am with the continued silence of Christine Quinn over the Cuomo harassment scandal? Are her lips sealed because of the political patronage job he gave her? Money is not everything, Ms. Quinn, and sometimes your personal integrity should take over from a paycheck!

Alex Thompson

Spiking racism

Schenectady, N.Y.: I read your story about Matt Rowan, the Oklahoma high school sports announcer who made racist comments on the air. I don’t condone his actions in any way, shape or form. You reported that he blamed his actions on low blood sugar, when he actually blamed high blood sugar. I’m not defending him or saying either explanation is a valid excuse. However, I thought you would like to publish the correct information.

Meghan McCaffrey

Politically incorrect

Morristown, N.J.: The politically correct, leftist libs running the Grace Church School, in their embarrassing bid to be “inclusive,” are actually being anything but. Their canceling of the use of “negative” terms like mom, dad, parents, etc. is actually an act of “exclusion.” Maybe they got the definitions of inclusive and exclusive backward. Either way, it’s just more of the radical leftist liberals canceling and censoring all that they disagree with. Attacking words like mom, dad and parents just proves how sick these people are. A bunch of phonies, one and all. The insanity must end.
