The right Rx from Trump

Excellent, excellent going by Donald Trump and Fox News Tuesday evening for having the right man on the right channel before the right audience with the right message: The COVID vaccine works, it is safe, he took it and everyone should take it. Calling into Maria Bartiromo’s show, Trump was, for once, perfect in spreading the life-saving information with some well-deserved self back-slapping thrown in.

Trump recounted his administration’s efforts in finding the best cure to the pandemic: “The big thing is what, and I’ve always felt is the most important is the vaccine. The key was always going to be the vaccine.

“Not only did we have the vaccine, and one thing we did, we took a big bet on this, we started manufacturing the vaccine before we really knew it worked. We saved many, many months and millions of lives by doing that, because you wouldn’t have the vaccine right now if we didn’t take that chance. We knew what we were doing. We felt strongly it was going to work. And we took a risk. And the risk was spending billions of dollars to develop it before we had the approval that it was going to work.

“It works incredibly well, 95%, maybe even more than that. It works incredibly well and it is really saving our country and it is saving frankly the world.”

People can disagree on politics. But this isn’t politics, it’s life and death. And on this, Trump’s voice matters a great deal.

“I would recommend it, and I would recommend it to a lot of people that don’t want to get it, and I lot of those people voted for me frankly. But again, we have our freedoms and we have to live by that and I agree with that also. But it’s a great vaccine, and it is a safe vaccine and it is something that works.”

It makes us wish, for this one exception, that Trump could be back on Twitter. Listen to him. Get the shot.
