1 man dead, another critically wounded in B’klyn shoots

- BY THOMAS TRACY

One man was killed and another was critically wounded Saturday in separate shootings less than 12 hours apart in the same Brooklyn neighborhood, police said.

Cops responding to a ShotSpotter alert around 4 a.m. found the first victim sprawled out on Georgia Ave. near Blake Ave. in East New York, cops said.

EMS rushed the 21-year-old man to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition, as the gunman took off, police said.

About nine hours later, at around 1 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot repeatedly in the head and arms inside a black Nissan parked on Milford St. near Dumont Ave., about a mile from the first shooting, cops said.

Two men stood outside the car and one of them shot the man inside it, said a witness who asked not to be named given the neighborhood’s gang problems.

“I heard the shots and the man who shot him ran away,” said the witness. “The other guy, he lives on the block, drove off in a red Explorer.”

The witness — who said he didn’t recognize the shooter

— walked over to the black Nissan and saw the victim. “He was leaned over and he was bleeding all over the car. He didn’t look good.”

He was also taken to Brookdale, where he died a short time later. His name was not immediately released as cops tracked down family members.

No arrests have been made in either case.

Cops have seen a 63% jump in shootings this year in the neighborhood’s 75th Precinct as of March 21, with 13 reported shootings compared with eight last year, NYPD data shows.
