A gun jam may have saved the life of a Bronx bodega worker who was the target of an angry armed woman in a crazed shooting caught on video.

“I looked up and saw the barrel of a gun,” clerk George Lugo, 40, told the Daily News.

“She pointed it right through the coronavirus barrier,” Lugo said as he recounted the frightening encounter at 1 a.m. Thursday inside the store in Longwood at the intersection of Westchester Ave. and Faile St.

“I heard the first click and knew she was going to shoot me.”

Lugo cowered in a corner to avoid getting shot as the woman tried to fire, video shows.

“The gun started clicking. jammed,” Lugo said.

Lugo called for a coworker to call 911 — and the gun went off. A bullet chipped the counter as the suspect ran off, Lugo recounted.

Police said the suspect fired several shots, hitting the counter and ceiling — but not Lugo. Afterward, the woman sped away from the store in a gray sedan, cops said.

“You see the wall and over here — she was shooting it like, ‘Blam! Blam! Blam!’” said bodega owner Vincent Nieves, 55, pointing to a bullet hole in the wall.

Lugo believes the gunwoman was in search of any associates of her estranged husband, who she accused of molesting her daughter. He said he once dated the shooter’s sister-in-law, but the relationship ended about a year ago.

“Everybody she thinks is related to or friends of his, she’s going after,” said Lugo. “She is out for blood.”

The woman had been in the store several times before, Lugo and Nieves said.

Two weeks ago, Nieves said, “a girl came in and had an argument with the guy at the counter.”

Then about a half-hour before the Thursday morning shooting, the woman visited the bodega and bought a blunt wrap. “She was nice. There was no problem,” said Lugo.

The clerk, who has two sons, isn’t coming back to work, Nieves said.

“I don’t blame him. He’s lucky he survived,” the bodega owner said. “I told him God gave him another chance and he better count his blessings.”

Police released the video Friday in the hope that someone recognizes the suspect and calls Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
