Socialist-ish Discriminatory

-

San Francisco: Voicer Harvey Beyer seems to believe that “Democrats and the media favor a socialist government.” Since the 1930s we have been a capitalist/ socialist society. No one that I have heard of is pushing for a totally socialist government. But the fact is some socialist programs, such as Social Security, Medicare, subsidies for corporations, public schools, etc. are very popular with millions of Americans and our country has prospered. Just remember: if not for programs like Social Security and Medicare, millions more Americans would be out on the street and/or bankrupt. And you, Harvey, might be one of them! Jimmy Layton

Little Neck: Voicer Matthew Zeidman is the one who so cavalierly nitpicks to avoid discussing the very serious, ongoing harassment of Jewish students at many universities. They are being threatened by professors and other students, being spat on and called murderers for merely indicating their Jewish identities and for disagreeing with BDS. When university faculties, whose job it is to promote student safety, freedom of opinion and honest discussion of issues, are instead choosing to silence this one group, what else is it but anti-Semitism? Jewish students are entitled to voice their views that Israel is not an apartheid state, as the pro-Palestinian campus groups claim. By contrast, it is the Palestinians who demand apartheid. They will not tolerate

Jews living in their areas. Why are the campuses refusing to allow civil, open discussion of all the issues? Reena Fettner
