ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE IN EFFECT ALL WEEK

Thursday, April 1 5 is not tax deadline day this year (it’s been extended a month) so no traffic jams at the main post office by the Garden, but it will be a day full of traffic-stopping protests and a Hudson River faceoff at MSG.

At noon, a rally against taxes being used for war and militarism will take place in front of the IRS in Lower Manhattan. Impacts are possible along Broadway at Duane St.

At 4 p.m., a demonstration in support of freeing Armenian POWs will take place at the International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation to the UN, which could cause issues around the start of the afternoon rush on Second Ave. and 4 2 nd St.

The Devils play the Rangers at the Garden at 7 p.m.

Wednesday and Thursday mark the solar New Year in many South and Southeast Asian communities. Expect additional activity on 3 7 th Ave. in Jackson Heights. On Thursday, a celebration of Tamil New Year will take place by the TKTS booth in Times Square at 1 p.m., affecting Seventh Ave. at 4 7 th St.

You’ll have four chances this week to catch one of the hottest rivalries in baseball. The Phillies take on the Mets at Citi Field Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 p.m., and Thursday at noon. Steer clear of the Grand Central Parkway, Whitestone Expressway, and Northern Blvd.

It’s fun to stay at the YMCA (for at least 1 5 minutes of observation post-shot).

Three YMCA’ss are now vaccination sites. Expect additional activity in Brooklyn around Surf Ave. at 2 9 th St. in Coney Island and Flatbush Ave. at Rogers Ave. in Flatbush; and 2 2 9 th St. near Needham Ave. in the Bronx.

MAILBAG Dear Gridlock Sam,

A month ago, I received an auto registration renewal notice in the mail and sent the renewal back the next day. I still haven’t gotten my new registration. I have been on numerous phone calls to DMV, and they can’t seem to find my application. I appreciate that processing times are delayed due to the pandemic, but I only have 5 days left until my registration expires! If I reapply online, I’ll be sent a temporary registration, but I’m worried they’ll find my original application and charge me twice?

Dear Joe,

Go ahead and reapply. If the DMV does eventually locate your mailed paperwork, their system will show the online renewal has been processed, so you won’t be charged a second time. The free temp registration you get applying online is good for 1 0 days from the date you renew. Any problems, write back.
