Man with AK-47 busted in subway station

A man with an AK-47 assault rifle was arrested in a Midtown subway station Friday afternoon, police said.

Saadiq Teague, 18, of Ohio, was grabbed near a cell phone charging station by the turnstiles leading to the A, C and E lines at the 42nd St./Port Authority station around 12:30 p.m., said the sources.

The officers saw the AK-47 rifle in plain view, said law enforcement sources.

The rifle (right) did not have a magazine inserted, but a magazine and ammunition were within Teague’s reach, sources said.

Teague was questioned later Friday by detectives from the NYPD Intelligence Bureau.

As he was walked out of the

NYPD’s Transit District 1 headquarters at Columbus Circle on Friday night in handcuffs, he told reporters: “I love you all!”

Police first spotted Teague sitting and charging his cell phone in the in the mezzanine level of the subway stop, a long block from Times Square.

It was not immediately clear why he was carrying the weapon.

A source also said that Teague’s father, Andrew Teague, 43, died March 5 after a shootout with police in Columbus, Ohio.

According to media reports, police tried to execute a warrant for felonious assault in connection with a shooting Feb. 2 when the elder Teague drove away.

Officers broke off their car pursuit, but a police helicopter kept tracking him.

Teague pulled over on an interstate highway, and police in patrol cars found him and resumed the pursuit.

Teague drove the wrong way on the highway, striking two vehicles, before he got out of his car and confronted the officers with a weapon.

He was killed in the ensuing shootout.
