Gottemself shot up on interstate in Miami
Rapper SpotemGottem was shot multiple times in a suspected road-rage incident in South Florida early Friday morning, authorities said.
The 19-year-old, whose real name is Nehemiah Harden, was a passenger in a Dodge Charger when a confrontation took place shortly after 3 a.m. on Interstate 95 in Miami, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The shooter fired at least 22 times, striking Harden and the driver, authorities said.
The Jacksonville, Fla., rapper was struck in both of his legs and the unidentified driver sustained a gunshot wound to his hip, authorities said. Both were taken to a hospital in stable condition.
No one has been arrested and there was no immediate description of the shooter’s vehicle.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
While police described the shooting as road rage, Harden’s lawyer called it a drive-by.
“This was not a shoot out. He was a victim of a drive-by shooting,” attorney Raven Liberty told the Miami Herald.
SpotemGottem (photo) is best known for the song “Beat Box,” which went viral on TikTok last year. A remix featuring rapper DaBaby peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s Top 100 chart.
He made headlines earlier this summer after federal officers busted him on weapons and assault charges in a hotel room in Aventura, just north of Miami. When they went into the room, they found the rapper lying next to an AK-47, authorities said.
At the time, police were investigating an incident in Miami Beach during which the rapper allegedly pulled a gun on a parking garage attendant. He has pleaded not guilty to charges.
