ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE IN EFFECT FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

It’s a long weekend for many, and streets across the five boroughs will be full of activity. On Staten Island, the Italian Festival on the Mount will be running Friday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., Sunday from noon to 8 p.m., and Monday from noon to 6 p.m. Watch for slowdowns on Hylan Blvd., Sharrot Ave., and Page Ave. Saturday events:

At 10:45 a.m., the Operation Take Back 34th Avenue March will commence at 37th Ave. and 81st St. in Jackson Heights, proceed to 37th Ave. and 75th St., and conclude at Broadway and 73rd St.

The Fatima Rosary Rally will begin at Bryant Park at 11 a.m.; traffic may be slower on 42nd St. and 6th Ave. Also at 11 a.m., a rally against vaccine mandates will take place at Battery Park, possibly causing jams on State St. and Battery Place. Across the harbor in Staten Island, the Porch Plays Festival will be running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, with impacts to Richmond Terrace and Henderson Ave.

Noon to 5 p.m., the Weeksville Heritage Center will be holding its annual Harvest Festival at Buffalo Ave. and Bergen St. The Sunnyside/Woodside Writer’s Festival takes place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Lou Lodati Park, at Skillman Ave. and 43rd St.

The New York African Restaurant Week Festival will be on at Hillel Plaza — Flatbush Ave. and Nostrand Ave.— Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday events:

The 31st St. Astoria Street Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. along 31st St. between Ditmars Blvd. and 21st Ave. At noon, the Vander Ende-Onderdonk House Harvest Festival will kick off at Flushing Ave. and Onderdonk Ave., continuing until 4 p.m. The Phoenix Flow Festival will run from noon to 6 p.m. at Fulton St. and Rockaway Ave.

The Bronx Columbus Day Parade will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Expect closures on Morris Park Ave. between White Plains Road and Williamsbr­idge Road, plus Williamsbr­idge Road between Morris Park Ave. and Pelham Parkway South.

At 2 p.m. the End Speciesism Protest will begin at Washington Square Park; watch for impacts to Waverly Place and W. 4th St.

There will be No. 5 train service this weekend, Friday at 11:45 p.m. to Monday at 5:00 a.m. Free shuttle buses will make stops between E. 180th St. and Eastcheste­r-Dyre Ave.; for other stations, use the 4 or 2 train.
