Washington Heights scene of fatal shooting in street

- Bronx man, 22, shot dead in Soundview

A man was shot and killed early Friday in Washington Heights, Manhattan, police said.

Police responding to a 911 call of a person shot found the victim unresponsi­ve at 1:40 a.m. on W. 177th St. and Wadsworth Ave., police and sources said.

The man was shot in the chest.

A 22-year-old Bronx man was shot and killed on Thursday and cops said they are searching for three men who fled the scene on mopeds.

The victim, identified by police as Yefri Jimenez, was shot just before 10 p.m. on Westcheste­r Ave. near Elder Ave. in Soundview, police said.

Surveillan­ce footage released by police shows an unidentifi­ed gunman creeping up behind Jimenez and firing a shot into his back as he tried to run away.

Jimenez fell to the pavement, and the shooter rifled through his pockets.

One of the moped drivers pulled up alongside Jimenez and his assailant on the sidewalk.

Cops found shell casings, bullet fragments and a gun next to the mortally wounded man, sources said.

Medics rushed him to New York-Presbyteri­an Hospital Columbia, but he could not be saved.

There had been no arrests. unidentifi­ed driver sped off west on Westcheste­r Ave.

Off camera, a second moped waiting nearby followed suit, police said.

Medics rushed the victim to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died.

A police source said Jimenez was picking up food from a friend’s house when he was shot outside the building.

Police released surveillan­ce photos and video of the men Friday in the hopes someone may recognize them.
