ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE SUSPENDED MONDAY, TUESDAY, AND WEDNESDAY FOR IDUL-FITR (EID AL-FITR)

REMINDER: The 5 Boro Bike Tour kicks off at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Starting from the Financial District, cyclists will head up 6th Ave. to Central Park, continue on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. and the Madison Ave. Bridge, loop around the South Bronx, return to Manhattan via the 3rd Ave. Bridge, and cruise down the FDR to the Queensboro. They’ll then make a big circle around Astoria, take a route closely paralleling the waterfront through Queens and Brooklyn, take the BQE and Gowanus to the Verrazzano, and then ride down Bay St. to the finish near the St. George ferry terminal.

Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the month of Ramadan, will begin on Monday, with celebrations continuing through Wednesday in some communities. I would expect additional activity along 3rd Ave. and 5th Ave. in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn; on Steinway St., between Astoria Blvd. and 28th Ave. in Astoria, Queens; and along White Plains Rd. near Rhinelander Ave. in the Bronx. Public schools will be closed on Monday.

DUI ALERT: Cinco De Mayo is Thursday. There will be plenty of festivities around the city, but please don’t even think about getting behind the wheel if you’ve had too much to drink.

The Memorial May Rally will commence Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Madison and 47th St., proceeding to Liberty Park by the World Trade Center.

Atlanta meets the Mets on Monday at 7 p.m., Tuesday for a double-header at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The 158th St. ramp to the northbound Henry Hudson Pkwy. will be fully closed through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

MAILBAG Dear Gridlock Sam,

Every night a car parks in front of a hydrant on 21st Ave. between Utopia Pkwy. and 202nd St. When the police come, the driver moves the car, but they’re still parking in front of the same hydrant overnight. The driver says “it’s none of your business.” This has been going on for many months. Can you help?

Phil

Dear Phil,

If you’re behind the wheel while parked at a hydrant during daylight that’s ok (NYC rules allow that from sunrise to sunset, but you still must move at the direction of fire or police). But overnight parking at a hydrant is verboten! I notified the NYPD and I’d like you to register the complaint with 311. You can do it online. Let me know if this continues.
