May is all about appreciating feminine essence

- BY REBECCA GITANA TORRES

During the month of May, the feminine essence is in full effect. From seeing our world blossom to the glory of sundress season to acknowledging the threats around a woman’s right to choose, feminine energy is calling for our attention.

She is the river and the ocean, all that nourishes and satisfies. She is the portal between the worlds. She is the Mother you love, the woman you crave, the Sister you want to protect, the elder that guides you, and the Earth that sustains you.

Throughout time, her harmony is consistently threatened. Wildly enough, because she has what we need, we can easily ignore the consequences of our abuse. We “grab and go” with her energy from how we take care of our planet to how we deal with the women in our lives. We assume that the waters will always flow and that Mama will always have something to give, but will she?

Let’s explore ways to support the divine feminine both around and within us.

Create powerful shifts by observing your current relationship with the divine feminine: Is there a true flow between what you want to receive versus how you actually give? Do you protect and honor nature, women, and girls? Do you make space for receptivity in your life? Do you nurture the spaces you inhabit? Do you nurture yourself?

Taking action is the next step: How will you honor the feminine presence through your daily habits?

Check your dating or love life practices. Does your masculine energy trample on the flower fields? Do you nourish as you take? Are you selfish in your love? Are you greedy with your needs? When we create new patterns, we can deepen intimacy and pleasure.

Be responsible for your trash and waste. Look up New York City rules and take the time to properly recycle. Keep in mind that so much of what you throw away ends up in landfills. Reduce your impact and don’t be afraid to fix and restore things. When we honor Mother Nature, we honor ourselves.

Lastly, use your voice to defend women’s rights. When the feminine is healthy, supported, and protected everyone is healthy, supported, and protected. Women are to humanity what the bees are to the Earth. Without either of them, there is nothing.
