Robert James Butler (“Bobby” to many) died peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2022 after a brief illness, with the love of his family and friends surroundin­g him. Bob was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 22, 1942 to Joseph and Anna Butler and lived nearly all of his 80 years in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn.

Bob served honorably as a staff sergeant in

the local Army National Guard and had a long and successful career with Burlington Industries, retiring after several decades of employment there. He was an avid New York sports fan and a long-time and devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, living his life committed to their principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. He deeply appreciate­d and greatly enjoyed

the camaraderi­e of his K of C friends.

Bob joins his parents as well as his dearly departed brother, Joseph Butler; sisterin-law, Gladys Butler; and brother-in-law, Lawrence J. Conboy in eternal rest. He is

survived by his loving sister Anne Butler Conboy, as well as eight cherished nieces and nephews who adored him. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A wake will be held at the KennedyRot­h Funeral Home, Woodside, Queens, NY on Thursday, May 19th, 4pm to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Woodside at 10:45 am on Friday, May 20th with burial following at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens (www.ccbq.org).
