Man shot in S.I. deli drug spat dies

A 22-year-old man shot in the head at a Staten Island deli during a spat over drugs has died of his wounds, police said Wednesday.

Doraymus Robinson was in the Elegant Deli on Victory Blvd. near Bay St. in Tompkinsville just before 6 p.m. on June 21 when his girlfriend started arguing with a man apparently dealing drugs in the store, police sources and witnesses said.

“If you keep doing it, something bad is going to happen to you,” the woman warned the drug dealer, the deli manager told the Daily News.

As Robinson and his girlfriend stepped outside the store the would-be dealer made a phone call on the store phone, the manager recalled.

A short time later, a car pulled up and at least two men stepped out, sparking a confrontation with Robinson. During the clash, the would-be dealer stepped out of the deli, pulled a gun and shot Robinson in the head before all three ran off.

Robinson was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center, where he clung to life for five days before dying Sunday, cops said.

Two days after the shooting cops arrested 18-year-old Naquan Brooks, charging him with attempted murder, assault, weapons possession and criminal use of a firearm. Brooks lives in Coney Island, Brooklyn, according to cops, while the victim lived about 3 miles from where he was shot.

The 6-foot-3 Brooks was ordered held without bail during his arraignment in Staten Island Criminal Court. The criminal charges he’s facing are expected to be upgraded at his next court appearance on July 11.

The ambush happened just steps from the spot where Eric Garner died after nowfired NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo put him in a chokehold in 2014.
