Whoever killed my brother ‘destroyed a family’: sister

- BY LEONARD GREENE AND NICHOLAS WILLIAMS

A 43-year-old man shot to death near a Brooklyn park was a construction worker with three daughters and a large family, his grief-stricken sister said Tuesday.

Anthony Dubois-Pricher was gunned down shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Friday by an assailant who opened fire near Lincoln Terrace/Arthur S. Somers Park in Crown Heights.

The victim’s sister Delia Pricher, 35, said the family has no clue why her life-of-the-party brother was killed and said he didn’t have any enemies.

“That’s crazy, because of who he was,” Pricher said of his slaying. “He wasn’t a violent person. No guns, no fighting. He didn’t even weigh that much to be a threat. That’s the hardest part to process.”

Dubois-Pricher was less than a mile from home when he was struck several times in the chest. Medics rushed him to Kings County Hospital, but he could not be saved.

The shooter ran off after the attack and has not been caught. Police were scouring the area for surveillance video to help them identify the shooter.

Pricher described her brother as a fun-loving father who liked to cook and spend time with his family.

“He was a jokester. He liked to grill,” she said. “He was the life of the party. He was like a big kid. I’m still trying to process this. We were on our way out and we got a call. We all went to Kings County Hospital. They identified him, but he was already gone.”

Pricher said the family got a call from a family friend about the shooting. The friend heard gunshots in the area and saw Dubois-Pricher on the ground near President St.

“I was shocked, like I’m still trying to process this,” the sister said.

“Whatever young boy did this, he destroyed a family and he took someone who was very popular in the community.”

She said Dubois-Pricher left behind three daughters, including a set of twins.

His twins are 23 and his youngest daughter is 16.

He is also survived by seven brothers and two sisters.

Dubois-Pricher’s mother died last year from a heart attack and he took it hard.

He also had four pit bulls, including two puppies. Pricher said Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday for two reasons — he loved food and he was born on the holiday

“He was loyal. He was a good friend, sibling and brother,” she said. “He was very popular and he’s going to be very missed.”

Homicides have doubled in Crown Heights’ 71st Precinct so far this year, with four victims through Sunday compared with two by the same point last year.

Citywide, murders are down 13%, with 197 victims through Sunday compared with 226 during the same time frame last year.
