Discover City Tech’s Innovative, Cutting-Edge Degree Programs to Launch Your Career

- — Dr. Russell K. Hotzler, President, City Tech, CUNY

At the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, steps from the Jay Street-Metro Tech and Borough Hall subway stations, you will find approximately 12,000 students pursuing a college degree at City Tech, CUNY. Guided by their professors in classrooms and labs across the college, undergraduates build robots, computers, and theater stage sets; draw up architectural plans; craft culinary delicacies; study travel and tourism, healthcare policy and management, and fashion and design; discuss art and literature; and share their own stories and ambitions.

In 27 associate and 31 baccalaureate degree programs, City Tech students prepare for careers spanning the technologies of art and design, architecture, biomedical informatics, business, career and technology teacher education, computer systems, engineering, entertainment, health care, hospitality, human services, the law-related professions, and the liberal arts and sciences.

At the college’s founding in 1946, its mission was to provide New York with the skilled workforce it needed to thrive in the post-war economy. Today, City Tech’s degree programs continue to prepare students for the high-tech workforce needs of tomorrow. City Tech is one of the most diverse colleges of technology in the United States, a role we are proud to fill.

City Tech’s LEED gold-certified awardwinning Academic Complex features 360,000 square feet of state-of-the-practice laboratories, clinics, and classrooms, a fitness center, a wellness center, and a beautiful 1,000-seat theater that hosts community events and conferences throughout the year. Smart classrooms serve programs including restorative dentistry, dental hygiene, radiologic technology and medical imaging, nursing, health services administration, human services, biology, and chemistry.

City Tech is the epicenter of STEM education in CUNY, so it was natural for the college to participate in a new partnership with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The DNA Learning Center NYC at City Tech provides opportunities for our students to pursue cutting-edge research projects and internships.

Yet the college is more than just STEM-focused. En route to an Associate or Bachelor’s degree, students benefit from coursework in the liberal arts, which rounds out their education and strengthens core skills. In addition, students have the opportunity to pursue an academic minor in a range of liberal arts and humanities areas of study, enabling them to explore other areas of interest and expand opportunities after graduation.

In a world of rapid economic, social, and technological change, this solid general education provides skills for life-long learning that make a career change and advancement possible.

Students can choose from both online and in-person class offerings. CUNY tuition is more affordable than the majority of other colleges, private and public. Financial aid is available for all who qualify.
