HARBAUGH AND HERBERT WOULD BE GREAT PAIR, BAD DAYS FOR BLUE AND GREEN & COHEN BETTER DO RIGHT BY PETE …

-

If Jim Harbaugh is going to make a move to the pros now that he is the hottest guy in the world, how can he not want to go coach Justin Herbert and the Chargers? There are a lot of bad teams out there.

But the Chargers have a quarterback.

l It really is over a decade now that neither team at MetLife Stadium has been thought of as a serious contender, and that includes last season’s Giants.

Everybody got swept away by that win over the Vikings.

Then the Giants went up against the varsity in Philly and got rolled, 38-7.

It feels like they haven’t really gotten up since.

And the Jets?

They’re building their entire future around a 40-year old quarterback who sounds like he wants to get himself a regular gig on the MyPillow channel.

l Wait until they get a load of Alex Verdugo in the Yankees clubhouse.

Here’s the skinny on that: If Verdugo thinks that Alex Cora was the problem for him last season, he ought to be doing a show with Aaron Rodgers out where the buses don’t run.

l Blake Snell might not end up getting paid by the Yankees.

But he is going to get paid.

l Nobody is suggesting, for a New York minute, that Mets fans of this generation love Pete Alonso the way Mets fans once loved the great Tom Seaver.

Mr. Seaver was called “The Franchise” for immensely good reason.

Alonso isn’t that.

But he’s the Mets brand right now, not Uncle Steve’s bank account.

And both Uncle Steve and his new baseball guru, David Stearns, better think long and hard about letting the Polar Bear just walk out the door when his contract is up.

Speaking of Stearns, it’s always fun to go back to one of my all-time favorite lines from George Young:

“When does the guru start guru-ing?”

l “Slow Horses” just gets better and better as it goes.

And every single episode, Gary Oldman gives on of the best performances anybody is currently giving in television.

Mick Herron’s Slough House books are brilliant, and so is this series.

l Here’s hoping that Marcus Stroman is going to have at least a few unspoken social media thoughts once he gets to the Bronx.

It’s kind of funny, just because the Yankees were so convinced they were going to get Yamamoto, that Stroman suddenly became Brian Cashman’s heart’s desire.

l Just a couple of weeks until “Curb.”

l Alabama fans are probably wondering if Nick Saban would still be coaching their team if the center had properly snapped the ball to Jalen Milroe in overtime.

l One more thing on Harbaugh:

Pretty sure that a national championship coach getting suspended for six regular-season games is a record that will stand the test of time.

l I’m not getting my flu shot until Aaron Rodgers tells me it’s safe.
