Preston High School:
Changing the World Through Compassion
At Preston High School, we are proud of our longstanding tradition of academic excellence and commitment to empowering young women to become compassionate leaders for change.
We have enjoyed over 75 years of academic excellence by honoring our traditions and breaking new ground in a variety of ways. Our students will continue to grow thanks to a broad and challenging curriculum, the support of a diverse, faith-centered community, and a commitment to Christian service.
At Preston High School, we are committed to the development of the whole person. We are proud of our partnerships with the JED Foundation, Fearless+, LevelAll, and the Changemakers Institute, as well as relationships with The Billion Oyster Project, Engineering Tomorrow, the Bill of Rights Institute, and Icivics.
Adventures in Learning
Our Preston Scholars program offers opportunities for students to study outside of the classroom through participation in service and workshops. For the past two years, our Preston Scholars have participated in workshops around the world in Germany, England, and Japan. Students have the opportunity to earn college credit thanks to programs sponsored by the College Board, SUNY Albany, and St. John’s University.
Young women interested in growing artistically have many options, including the school musical produced by the Preston Players. Our robust co-curricular program includes honor societies, service clubs, choirs, and special interest groups.
The Athletic Department sponsors varsity and junior varsity teams, which include soccer (2023 city champions), basketball (2023 division champions), volleyball (2019 division champions), cheerleading (2022 regional champions), and softball (2017 division champions).
Supportive Environment
Our Counseling Department offers a structured curriculum, group meetings, individual counseling, and parent meetings on a variety of themes. Finally, to support our students physically, beginning this year, our school meals, provided by Lessings Food Services, are freshly prepared in our upgraded kitchen and can be purchased using a cashless app, allowing students choices while giving parents information on their student’s spending.
A Mission of Empowerment
At Preston High School, our mission is to mold our students into women of dignity, honor, respect, and compassion. We strive to achieve this by providing them with the best support and opportunities. Our students actively participate in school life through “Panther Vision,” producing videos, PSAs, commercials, and segments for Preston’s daily announcements.
We empower young women by equipping them with the skills necessary to become empathetic leaders for change in their world. We also encourage students to be thoughtful and caring through our Compassion Connection program. This dedicated group of students organizes the Food Drive, Dance Marathon, and Food Fest Friday collections. We offer academic support through our after-school extra help, peer tutoring, and a Learning Center that supports our SETTS providers.
A Vision of Change
Our vision at Preston High School is to bring about change in the world through compassion. Above all, our graduates are women of accomplishment, faith, and compassion, dedicated to serving their communities and embodying respect and integrity. Learn more at prestonhs.org.
AMarauder always strives to be more. At Saint Peter’s Prep, we believe each student has a unique path to greatness, a singular set of talents and interests that give him the potential to change the world in ways no one else can. There are as many ways to be a Marauder as there are young men who have answered the call to be a Marauder over the past 152 years. To embark on this journey, students do not need to be anyone but themselves; they only need the desire to be their best selves. You may be surprised to discover what you can achieve as part of this community and the gifts you can bring to every community you will ever call home. In short, a Marauder is you, only greater!
Saint Peter’s Prep is an all-male, Catholic, Jesuit college preparatory school that seeks to form young men of competence, conscience, and compassion. Both enriched and challenged by its diversity, Prep is a community of learners seeking to find God in all things. The academic, athletic, co-curricular, spiritual, and service programs aim to foster in students an understanding of the world and the courage to advance the common good.
Be Yourself
Each day sees students converge at Prep’s downtown Jersey City campus from 118 communities in 11 New Jersey counties, plus three New York City boroughs and Long Island. They represent a diversity of identities and backgrounds, but they are united as part of a brotherhood reaching all the way back to our founding in 1872.
Be Greater
Our students define their paths to greatness in all areas of school life. In the classroom, a rigorous, broad-based curriculum (including 47 honors and AP courses) is ready to challenge them today and prepare them to meet any challenge tomorrow.
Beyond the classroom, 68 clubs and activities invite students to broaden their interests, discover new pursuits, and sharpen their skills in our award-winning band and chorus, robotics, esports, Model UN, student government, dramatics, student media, and so much more.
On the athletic field, students compete in 18 different sports, many of which offer JV and freshman levels in addition to varsity. Last year, Prep teams won 19 county, sectional, and state championships!
In addition, while Saint Peter’s Prep is the only Jesuit high school in New Jersey, we are also one of nearly 900 Jesuit secondary and primary schools across the globe. Our extensive global education program—including exchanges, summer study abroad opportunities, and more, leverages these one-of-a-kind connections to allow Marauders to emerge as true citizens of the world.
Be A Marauder
It is this foundation in the 475-year-old tradition of Jesuit education that inspires us to challenge each student to “Be yourself, only greater!”
