ZETA CHARTER SCHOOLS’ NEXT-GEN WHOLE-CHILD APPROACH

High-Performing Charter to Serve Pre-K to 7th Grade this Fall

Zeta Charter Schools has a lot to celebrate! The high-performing charter network marked its 6th anniversary this year, opening its largest permanent, private facility to date. They also launched an Artist in Residence program that brings trailblazing artists of international renown and diverse backgrounds into the Zeta community. Zeta’s schools are top performers in the neighborhoods they serve and receive rave reviews from families, which is no surprise given Zeta was founded by a parent, Emily Kim.

Ms. Kim is dedicated to providing all children with the same education that she seeks for her own: “No hoop jumping, no college-admissions-like application process, no struggle to learn how your student is doing or how you can get involved. Just excellent, equitable, free, whole-child public education, which is a right of every child—this is our promise at Zeta, from Pre-K through twelfth grade.”

A next-generation model

Zeta Charter Schools is committed to this vision and to an innovative, whole-child approach that prepares students for participation and leadership in the modern world. Zeta’s commitment starts with a foundation of world-class academics, including science, every day. Zeta’s next-generation model focuses on social-emotional learning, mindfulness, and enrichment through a wide variety of activities, including field trips throughout NYC and beyond, Zeta Innovation Lab, art, basketball, chess, choir, dance, orchestra, soccer, Taekwondo, volleyball, and more!

That approach continues into middle school, where Zeta’s custom-designed curriculum offers the combination of rigorous academics and whole-child education that Zeta is known for. Zeta middle schoolers have various specialties across fine arts, performing arts, technology, sports, and innovation offerings. Students are prepared to take the Regents exams in Algebra and Living Environment by the end of eighth grade.

To ensure a truly world-class education, Zeta schools are specially designed and outfitted with the latest classroom technology, cafeterias, spacious gymnasiums and auditoriums, rooftop playspaces, cutting-edge innovation labs, music rooms, and recording studios.

Zeta students are lifelong learners, problem solvers, and innovators. Zeta envisions a future for their students in which they carry their holistic education into everything they do.

A whole-child design that delivers impressive results

Zeta’s students’ academic performance has earned the network a top-4 rank across all of NYC’s charter schools. But strong NYS test results are only a baseline—Zeta is putting its students on a path to powerful lives of their own choosing.

Zeta currently operates seven schools across five campuses in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan, serving over 2700 Pre-K through 6th grade students. In August 2024, Zeta will serve students through 7th grade as Zeta schools add a grade each year and will eventually run through 12th grade.
