Rain wins once again Waterlogged Mets and Tigers try again in afternoon DH today

- BY ABBEY MASTRACCO

Inclement weather postponed the Mets and Tigers for a second day in a row, forcing the teams to play a getaway doubleheader this afternoon at Citi Field.

The Tigers took the first game of the series, 5-0, in the 10th inning. The second game of the series was postponed after a two-hour rain delay, and the third was postponed as well, with the Mets making the announcement early Wednesday.

The first game of today’s doubleheader is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. The second game will begin 30 minutes after the end of the first one.

It’s a single-admission doubleheader, but tickets for Wednesday’s game will not be valid for the makeup games.

Fans who have purchased tickets for the second game of the series will receive a digital voucher loaded into their My Mets Tickets account that will be accessible this morning. Digital ticket vouchers can be exchanged for a ticket comparable in price and location to another regular-season home game this season, excluding certain dates.

Right-hander Adrian Houser is expected to make his Mets debut in the first game this afternoon. The former Brewers starter was acquired in a trade over the winter to bolster the starting pitching depth, but the Mets think he can be more than just a back-end starter.

Right-hander Casey Mize is expected to oppose Houser. After nearly two years away from the field because of Tommy John surgery and back surgery, Mize is finally set to return.

Left-hander Jose Quintana is scheduled to make his second start of the season in the nightcap, facing left-hander Tarik Skubal.
