Summary
The first quarter was a total disaster right from the start for the Broncos. After the safety, Golden Tate returned the free kick to the Seattle 36 and the Seahawks promptly drove 51 yards on nine plays, setting up Hauschka’s first field goal.
Manning completed two short passes, but the Broncos still went three-and-out.
The Seahawks’ next drive covered 58 yards on 13 plays, including three Russell Wilson completions to convert three first downs. The Broncos, though, again kept the Seahawks out of the end zone when Wilson couldn’t complete a third-and-14 and Seattle settled for another field goal.
Still in the game despite being dominated, the Broncos couldn’t solve the Seahawks defense on the next drive, with Kam Chancellor picking off Manning’s third-down attempt to set up the Seahawks’ offense at the Denver 37 late in the quarter.
