OBJ ignores flag, will keep dancing

- By ZACH BRAZILLER

Odell Beckham Jr. has a simple solution for avoiding a flag next time he reaches the end zone.

“Just don’t get a penalty,” he said with a smile Friday after the Giants’ final practice of the season.

If only it were so simple. Beckham doesn’t plan to avoid celebrating despite drawing a 15yard taunting penalty in Sunday’s win over the Rams after spinning the ball, followed by a dance. He’s putting the onus on the officials.

“That is really up to the refs,” the rookie wideout said. “I don’t feel like it should have been a penalty, but it was. Just being mindful of their tendencies and what they may call or whatever may be close or cutting it close. Don’t step near the line.”

Still, Beckham doesn’t plan to talk to officials about what he can or can’t do.

“Hopefully I can get in the end zone Sunday and I guess we will see what happens,” he said.

The NFL released the fines from the GiantsRams brawl last week, and there weren’t any surprises. Defensive end Damontre Moore and wide receiver Preston Parker were fined $15,000 each while Beckham was fined $10,000, as was Rams defensive end William Hayes.

Kicker Josh Brown and long snapper Zak DeOssie were fined $8,268 each. Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree was fined $8,268 for his late hit on Beckham that started the fight.

Giants defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins and the Rams’ Eugene Sims were fined $16,537 for late hits on the opposing quarterback.

Beckham said he plans to work out with former LSU teammates and NFL receivers Jarvis Landry and Jeremy Hill over the summer, and possibly attend the Manning Passing Academy as a coach. He attended the event as a camper years ago.

Beckham is tied with Landry, a secondround pick of the Dolphins, for the rookie lead in receptions with 79.
