Highly coyote on Qns. roof

- Joe Tacopino

Maybe he was trying to catch a roadrunner.

A wild coyote was spotted Monday roaming around the roof of a bar in Queens.

The animal wandered out a broken window in an abandoned warehouse and strolled on top of the LIC Bar in Hunters Point, according to the blog LIC Post.

Brian Porter, the owner of the bar, said that tenants who live above the establishment witnessed the canine outside their windows.

“It looked wellfed,” Porter told the site. “It wasn’t a scrawny thing.”

Police came to the scene and called in animal control. Also, a veterinarian from City Vet climbed the roof to investigate, but quickly jumped down to safety, the site said.

The officers who responded were surprised to find the coyote, since they haven’t seen one in the area before, Porter said.

The NYPD said Monday night that the animal was still on the loose but could not confirm whether it was, in fact, a coyote.

At least three coyotes have been spotted in the city in the past three months — including one in the East Village in January.

Last week in The Bronx, a menacing coyote terrified residents of Riverdale.

Coyotes caught in New York City are released into a Bronx wilderness area by the Parks Department and Animal Care and Control.
