Cop busted for third time after crash
Little Miss Dangerous, indeed! NYPD cop Stacey Staniland lived up to her biker nickname Wednesday morning when she was arrested for the third time in eight months — after she slammed her motorcycle into two cars on Staten Island.
The New Brighton resident was turning her Honda CBR600RR from Davis Avenue onto Henderson Avenue just after 11 a.m. when she spun out and smashed into the vehicles at a red light.
Fellow cops soon showed up, and as Staniland was pulling out her ID, officers spotted needles, a silver spoon and drug residue inside her bag, authorities said.
Staniland, 29, whose helmet reads “Little Miss Dangerous,” was cuffed and driven away by an Internal Affairs investigator. She was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument, authorities said.
No one was seriously injured in the accident, according to police.
The arrest was the third for the 5foot10 blond officer.
Staniland’s first runin with the law came in December 2014 while she was assigned to the 122nd Precinct in New Dorp. She was busted for allegedly breaking into the home of her boyfriend's mother in Elm Park and swiping jewelry.
She allegedly hawked the bling at pawn shops, and was charged with burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. She was suspended from work for 30 days without pay, authorities said.
While her criminal case was still open, Staniland was nabbed by cops in May — after she was found high while onduty at a police facility in Brooklyn, cops said.
Staniland was charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
At the time of her arrest on Wednesday, Staniland was allegedly carrying 4 ¹/₂ pills of Clonazepam. She had also been sniffing glue before the accident, according to police.
Staniland has been suspended without pay and has been stripped of her gun and badge, lawenforcement sources said.
