Melo as anxious as fans for answers

- By MARC BERMAN

Carmelo Anthony is anxious, healthy and happy.

Anthony, new owner of a soccer team in Puerto Rico, took in a Red Bulls game Wednesday night and told MSG Network he’s antsy about free agency with the Knicks having not immediately getting a verbal commitment.

“We haven’t heard anything yet on the Knicks,’’ Anthony said. “I’m waiting by my phone to go off right now so I could hear some good news. It’s a waiting game. You see guys signing up early, but I think this free agency will be done in a short manner.’’

Anthony has called free agents LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan and Arron Afflalo to try to sell the Knicks. Reports, though, suggested Anthony was upset on draft night when his buddy Tim Hardaway Jr. was traded for draft pick, Jerian Grant, and Phil Jackson selected the Euro project Kristaps Porzingis, calling it “a giant risk.’’

“I’ve watched Grant in college a little — I didn’t like him because he was going against Syracuse,’’ Anthony said. “But now he’s on my team so I respect that. I watched KP work out before the draft. He kind of got hurt a little in the workout but you see the potential he has. I’m looking for someone to stretch the floor for me and I know he can do that.’’

Anthony, not part of the recruiting party, underwent season-ending knee surgery on his torn patellar tendon and is back on the court training.

“I feel very good in my rehab right now,’’ Anthony said. “I’m back on the court running shooting working out every day. I haven’t felt like this in a long time — just able to rehab and focus on my body.’’

Though point guard is the deepest part of a thin roster, the Knicks have expressed interest in Rockets free agent Patrick Beverley, an NBA source conf irmed. “There’s mutual interest,’’ the source said.

The Rockets can match any offer and they just may have to now that Spanish draft pick, Sergio Llull has decided to stay in Real Madrid.
