1961 UN crash still a mystery
An independent review of new information about the mysterious 1961 Africa plane crash that killed UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold puts to rest claims he was assassinated after surviving the crash but leaves many questions unanswered about a possible aerial attack, Secretary General Ban Kimoon said Monday.
Ban said in a letter to the General Assembly that some countries believed to have information about the crash didn’t provide “a substantive response,” didn’t respond or maintained that documents were classified. He urged them to disclose relevant information.
