Christie: Close Bridge
WASHINGTON — After getting dogged by Bridgegate for more than a year, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie wants critics to take a hike, saying “nobody cares” about the scandal.
“The only people up in New Hampshire who ask about [ Bridgegate] is the press who follow me up to New Hampshire,” Christie told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Monday after campaigning around the state last week.
“That’s about it. Nobody cares,” he continued.
Christie said he was “accountable” for the scandal because it “happened onmy watch,” but he continued to deny having known anything about lane closures ordered by his aide on the approach to the George Washington Bridge.
Polls show New Hampshire voters still need to be convinced.
A CNN poll last week found 44 percent viewed Christie unfavorably, compared with 31 percent favorably. Geoff Earle
