‘ Dead’ go out on high note

CHICAGO — A performanc­e that the Grateful Dead says was their last together has topped a record for ticket sales at Chicago’s Soldier Field set by the band only a day earlier.

The stadium said Monday that 71,000 tickets were sold for Sunday night’s show, the most for any event at the venue.

Soldier Field reported that 70,844 tickets were sold for Saturday’s show, and fans bought 70,764 tickets for Friday’s show.

The 50yearold band had announced that the shows would be their last as the Grateful Dead.

Soldier Field says the previous record was 67,936 tickets for a 2009 U2 concert.
