Out to beat Mayor de Blasio
LALLY Weymouth — whose family owned the Washington Post and Newsweek — didn’t have Mayor de Blasio at her annual July Fourth party in Southampton. But she hosted so many of the mayor’s potential challengers that his ears must have been burning.
Former governor David Paterson, who — as I reported Sunday — is being urged to run for mayor, joined former police commissioner Ray Kelly, who I’ve revealed has regrets he didn’t run in the last election. Current Police Commissioner Bill Bratton, who just outmaneuvered the mayor to get 1,300 more cops in uniform, was also on hand, with former congressman Harold Ford Jr. ( left) — who some believe is destined to run again for public office.
“All anyone was talking about was who is going to run against de Blasio,” said one guest.
