Gawker hearing in Oct.

- By RICHARD MORGAN rmorgan@ gmail. com

A Florida judge has scheduled an Oct. 20 hearing on Hulk Hogan’s $ 100 million sextape lawsuit against Gawker.

The two sides were scheduled to clash in court on Monday, but an appeals court last week postponed the legal battle indefinitely.

Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, sued Nick Denton’s media company for invasion of privacy after it aired a twominute “highlights reel” of a 30minute video of Hogan having sex with the wife of his then best friend, shockjock Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

Hogan claims he didn’t know he was being taped.

If Gawker loses the case, a stiff jury verdict could bankrupt it.

Gawker claims Hogan had often dished on his sexual exploits long before publication of the tape, which made it newsworthy and protected by the First Amendment.

Gawker is also in federal court to secure three videos and two audio tapes obtained by the FBI in its investigation of the Hulk’s sextape saga that it claims will show Hogan knew he was being taped.
