NBA: West signs with Spurs

David West is sacrificin­g millions to chase a championsh­ip. A person with knowledge of the deal tells the Associated Press the veteran forward is taking a oneyear, minimum salary contract worth $ 1.4 million to join the Spurs after walking away from a $ 12 million pay day with the Pacers. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.

Manu Ginobili says he is returning to the Spurs for a 14th season. The Argentinia­n will turn 38 this month and is coming off a season in which he battled injuries.

Jeremy Lin is considerin­g taking a discount to sign with the Mavericks and reunite with Chandler Parsons. Dallas could execute a sign and trade with the Lakers to make a deal happen.
