Nats blanked for 6th straight loss

Madison Bumgarner homered and doubled, struck out 14 and pitched a threehitte­r as the Giants won 50 on Sunday in San Francisco, handing the Nationals their sixth straight loss.

Hunter Pence also homered as the Giants finished off a fourgame sweep. The Nationals matched their longest skid of the season and remained 4 ¹/₂ games behind the Mets in the NL East.

Royals 4, Angels 3 (10)

In Kansas City, Mo., Kendrys Morales hit an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning to lift the Royals over the Angels.

Ben Zobrist singled with one out in the 10th, the Royals’ first hit since Eric Hosmer’s RBI single in the first inning. After Hosmer walked, Morales singled as Kansas City improved to 72 in extrainnin­gs.

Kole Calhoun homered in the eighth to put the Angels up 32, but closer Huston Street walked the bases loaded in the ninth before Alex Rios’ sacrifice fly scored Hosmer to tie it. Mike Trout made a diving catch of Paulo Orlando’s scorcher to rightcente­r to preserve the tie.

Orioles 18, Athletics 2

In Baltimore, Adam Jones hit two home runs, Gerardo Parra had five of the Orioles’ franchise recordtyin­g 26 hits in a rout of the Athletics.

Dodgers 2, Reds 1

In Los Angeles, Zack Greinke lowered his MLBleading ERA to 1.58 with seven sharp innings and drove in the goahead run with his second homer of the season, leading the Dodgers over the Reds.

Astros 6, Tigers 5

In Houston, Jose Altuve hit an RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning and the Astros, boosted by two homers from Colby Rasmus, beat the Tigers.

Braves 2, Diamondbac­ks 1 (10)

In Atlanta, Shelby Miller took a nohit bid into the eighth inning, and the Braves went on to beat the Diamondbac­ks on Cameron Maybin’s homer in the 10th.

White Sox 3, Cubs 1

In Chicago, Chris Sale matched a career high with 15 strikeouts in seven scoreless innings, and the White Sox snapped the crosstown Cubs’ ninegame win streak with a win at U.S. Cellular Field.
