NY courts clearing felony backlog

- Rebecca Rosenberg

New York City’s criminal courts have disposed of more than half of their felony cases involving defendants who have been jailed for more than a year, The Post has learned.

The Office of Court Administration identified 1,427 cases older than a year and set a goal of resolving half of them by Oct. 15.

That mark was achieved on Aug. 1, said state Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence Marks.
