Kentucky County Clerk’s Duty

-

l Imagine if Kim Davis had been a clerk in Arizona or any other state with little restrictions on guns and denied issuing permits to people based on an irrational fear of weapons (“Back on God duty,” Sept. 9).

The same liberals who are going rabid over Davis now would be carrying her on their shoulders and cheering. Ray Ficara The Bronx

Davis is most certainly due an accommodation from issuing gaymarriage licenses. The job she signed up for did not have responsibilities she found immoral or that would force her to betray her faith.

This all changed in the past year.

Religious liberty means accommodation when the situation is doable and reasonable.

Kim Davis’ situation fits that criteria. Diane Sulpizio Houston, Texas

l Although Davis has pledged the rest of her life to the service of the Lord, I doubt God would condone her discrimination and divisiveness.

Besides, using her religion as a reason to not issue marriage licenses is nothing but a smokescreen for her deepseated hatred and bigotry toward gays and lesbians.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks. Jo-Ann Lee Frank
