GIANTSBLITZ

- by Howie Kussoy

HERO

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo appeared to be the goat, spending most of the night dinking and dunking against an unproven secondary, and throwing two interceptions. But with the game on the line, Romo took the Cowboys 72 yards in 1:27, finding Jason Witten for an 11-yard touchdown with seven seconds left to win the game.

ZERO

Eli Manning hadn’t had a spectacular night, but hadn’t made many mistakes. However, with the Giants at Dallas’ goal line with less than two minutes to play, Manning threw the ball out of bounds on third down, rather than take a knee, which would have kept the clock running since the Cowboys had no timeouts. Instead of having less than a minute to go for the winning touchdown, Dallas had 1:34 — and needed almost all of it.

UNSUNG HERO

Giants cornerback Trumaine McBride shifted the game’s momentum with two huge plays, first stripping Cowboys receiver Cole Beasley for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie’s 57-yard touchdown return to give the Giants their first lead of the game, 10-6. Then, McBride intercepted Tony Romo on a wild deflection midway through the fourth quarter, returning the ball to the 1-yard line to set up another Giants touchdown.
