Mike puts heat on Carson, Cruz

-

ExMayor Mike Bloomberg has attacked GOP presidential candidates Ben Carson and Ted Cruz for denying the threat of climate change.

“There’s one of them who was a surgeon, unfortunately at Johns Hopkins, who doesn’t believe in science,” Bloomberg, a Hopkins alum, said in a dig at Carson during a CNN interview that aired Friday.

“Somebody said that’s like a business executive that doesn’t believe in profits.”

Bloomberg, a DemocratturnedRepublicanturnedindependent, zinged Cruz for saying the “stupidest things.”

“You’ve got a guy like Ted Cruz — who, I think, [top lawyer Alan] Dershowitz said was the smartest law student he ever had — and he says some of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard,” Bloomberg said.

“The only explanation, the only explanation, is he doesn’t believe it. He’s just saying it. Ted Cruz is a smart guy, and you can’t say what he says in an intelligent way,” he said.

Carson’s campaign declined to comment.

A Cruz spokesman dismissed Bloomberg as an outoftouch elitist.

“The myopic Mr. Bloombergomberg should get past his armed guardsards and cloiscloistered circumstances andand take a big gulp of reality,” said thehe spokesman, Rick Tyler. “Everythinging Ted Cruz says is just common sense. Everything Mr. Bloomberg says defies logic.” Carl Campanile
