RAGE AT STANFORD RAPIST PA

Calls son's attack '20 mins of action'

- By BRUCE GOLDING

Rotten apple, rotten tree. A father who whined that his rapist son shouldn’t do hard time because it would be “a steep price . . . for 20 minutes of action” seemed to get his way — when a judge gave the ex-Stanford University student a slap on the wrist Monday. And it worked. After receiving the written plea from deep-in-denial dad Dan Turner, a California judge decided to give 20-year-old Brock Turner just six months in the county jail for raping an unconscious woman behind a trash bin in 2015.

The younger Turner had faced up to 14 years in prison — but Santa Clara Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky gave him six months plus three years of probation, saying harsher punishment would have a “severe impact” on him.

In his plea for leniency, the father made it seem his son was the victim.

“As it stands now, Brock’s life has been deeply altered forever by the events of Jan. 17th and 18th,” Dan Turner wrote.

“He will never be his happy-go-lucky self with that easygoing personality and welcoming smile. His every waking moment is consumed with worry, anxiety, fear, and depression.”

Dan Turner also complained that his son — a three-time All-American swimmer who used to en- joy tearing into a “big ribeye steak” and devouring bags of pretzels and chips — now “barely consumes any food and eats only to exist.”

“His life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve,” the older man wrote.

“That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life.”

Dan Turner further said his son was “totally committed to educating other college students about the dangers of alcohol consumption and sexual promiscuity.”

Revelation of the three-page letter sparked outrage on Twitter, where #BrockTurner was trending Monday with more than 36,000 tweets.

“I wonder where #BrockTurner got the idea that sexual assault is okay oh wait I’m reading #DanTurner’s statement nevermind,” user @An_Seabhac wrote.

No one answered calls to Dan Turner’s cellphone or his home phone in Bellebrook, Ohio.

The letter was sent to Persky ahead of the young man’s sentencing Thursday for his attack on the 23-year-old victim.

Brock Turner was caught in the act by two grad students who tackled him when he tried to run away, then held him until cops arrived.
