What single guy would not want to own the Playboy mansion?

Daren Metropoulos, the 32-year-old unattached owner of Hostess, is one, according to his father, private equity giant Dean Metropoulos, as it was announced Monday that the son is in contract to buy the estate.

“He wants to bring the [5.3-acre Beverly Hills-area] property back to the original history of the location,” Dean Metropolous said. “Totally different” from the way Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has operated the estate since 1971, when he acquired what became the Playboy mansion.

Daren Metropolous presently lives next door to the mansion and plans to reconnect the two estates, which originally constituted the Wolfskill Ranch.

As part of the deal, Hefner, 90, gets to live in his estate until he dies.

Daren Metropoulos — who co-owns and helps run snack food company Hostess — paid well below the $200 million asking price, two sources said.

Still, if any single women are interested in dating the newest owner of the Playboy Mansion, they should know that his hobbies are skiing and snowboarding, having grown up in Stowe, Vt., he said.

“He is a very serious young man. He’s very engaged in business,” Metropoulos said of his son. “He is not a playboy at all.”

Dean and his sons Daren and Evan are the principals of Metropoulos & Co., which runs Hostess and has controlled Pabst Blue Ribbon, Ghirardelli Chocolate, Pinnacle Foods (the parent of Vlasic Pickles) and Morningstar Foods.

Daren and Evan manage the family money through a Santa Monica, Calif., office that buys the companies Metropoulos & Co. manages.
