Weird BUT true

An escaped Arkansas convict turned himself in — but only after he stopped at a bar to grab one last beer.

Shaun Higham, 45, turned up Tuesday night at Mitch’s Place in Paris, Ark., not far from the Logan County Jail where he had picked a lock to slip free on June 28.

The bar’s owner called police and said Higham, still wearing his jail duds, wanted to surrender. He was downing a beer when cops showed up.

For about $350,000 you, too, can have your very own Colorado ghost town.

Cabin Creek, a long-dormant dot on the Adams County map, is being offered on Craigslist.

The sale includes a cafe, motel, two houses, shooting range and RV parking area.

City workers in the San Francisco suburb of Hayward fixed a cracked curb, much to the chagrin of amateur geologists.

A crack at the corner of Prospect and Rose Streets had been stretching asphalt in two different directions — creating a hazard for pedestrians, city officials believed.

But locals enjoyed the crack because it showed how the Hayward fault has been shifting for years. Hey, crime is tiring work. A man broke into a home in Conestoga Township, Pa., and took a nap there, but not before leaving a polite note: “Don’t be scared when you come, Bob is here.”

The burglar turned out to be Robert Sheets, 28, a distant acquaintance of the female homeowner’s boyfriend, cops said.

How much more proof do you need?

An aboriginal Canadian — who screamed “I hate white people!” before decking a stranger — was cleared of a bias crime by a judge who ruled there wasn’t enough evidence to explain the attack.

Calgary prosecutors wanted Tamara Crowchief locked up for 12 years for punching the victim, Lydia White (yes, really). She got 9¹/2 months behind bars instead.
