Media Mad Over Melania: What’s the Big Deal?

-

Who would believe that the elegant Melania Trump, who always takes a back seat to her husband and has to be coaxed into the spotlight, intentionally appropriated Michelle Obama’s words (“‘Blame writers, not Melania,’ ” July 20)?

Quite obviously, Melania’s replication of several passages in her address to the Republican National Convention is a speechwriter’s embarrassing snafu, eagerly seized on and blown out of proportion by the opposition.

This pales in comparison to Hillary Clinton’s flat-out lying about her server and the loss of life at Benghazi. It doesn’t get more hypocritical. S. Silver Manhattan

It’s not only troubling that Melania’s speech was partially plagiarized, but the way the campaign handled it is much worse.

It seems that the contro- versy could have nicely ended by simply saying, “Melania is not running against Michelle and greatly admires the first lady. Melania regrets not crediting Michelle for the eloquent thoughts.” Gerhardie Williams Manhattan Oh, my goodness, parts of Melania’s speech were similar to Michelle’s.

Wow, the way people are reacting, you would think she lied to the families of the victims of the Benghazi attacks.

Or that she lied to the American people or lied to the FBI or lied to Congress or had a foundation that took money from foreign governments or deleted 30,000 e-mails from an unsecured personal e-mail server. Joe Mulvanerton Old Bridge, NJ

Donald Trump’s campaign manager practically blamed Hillary for Melania’s plagiarized speech.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Feel free to attack Hillary’s policies, but stop spouting nonsense. Denny Freidenrich Laguna Beach, Calif.
