Tourists get 3G back

Not everybody who works around Wall Street is a wolf.

A businessman found a purse on the E train with $3,000 in cash, a cellphone, a passport and credit cards — and went out of his way to return it to two Argentinian tourists.

The travelers — 26year-olds who speak little English — say they can’t get over the honest gesture of the man, who told cops he preferred to remain anonymous.

Barbara Fieg, outside One Police Plaza with travel pal Milagros De Vedia, called it “incredible.”

“It gives us hope that there are people like him in this world,” added De Vedia, who said she saved for three years to afford the trip to the Big Apple.

Sgt. Steve Kaminski, who helped track down the girls, called it a “very happy story.” He added it was even more unbelievable, considering the bag was left “on a crowded subway on a midweek day here in Manhattan.”

It all happened after the tired travelers landed at JFK Airport on Tuesday from Buenos Aires and were making their way to a Midtown hotel.

In the crowd and confusion, they left the purse on the train, under the seat, when they exited at 42nd Street at about 5 p.m.

“We ran back down to find it,” said De Vedia.

Cops say the man saw the women leave it behind and kept it safe until he arrived at the World Trade Center stop, where he walked it over to 1 Police Plaza.

“He was worried that it was a lot of money,” said Sgt. Carmine Nicastro. “He actually stayed with us for at least an hour making sure and trying to help us get this thing sorted out.”

The man was identified as a private business owner who works in the area.

Meanwhile, Kaminski said he accessed the cellphone’s directory and started calling numbers. Finally, he located De Vedia’s sister in Argentina — who contacted the women via Fieg’s cellphone. By 7:30, the ladies had the bag.

“I thanked [the Samaritan] and told him . . . what a good person he is,” she said.
