Ozzy & son’s magical history tour

Seeing this world and beyond on TV

- By HARDEEP PHULL

OZZY Osbourne has spent most of his life on tour, but for the first time, the Prince of Darkness is embarking on a detour. With his son Jack at his side, the duo are fronting “Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour” — a slimmeddown version of “The Osbournes” in which the men of the household travel to historically significant sites while enjoying some tender (and occasionally testy) father-son bonding along the way. Ahead of the show’s premiere Sunday at 10 p.m. on History, The Post caught up with the 67-year-old singer who discussed, via e-mail, the show, his family, interplanetary travel and even some history.

You’ve clearly learned a lot about Jack through traveling with him while doing these shows. What’s been the strangest thing you’ve learned about him?

He’s truly a leader, rather than a follower. He knows what he wants, when he wants it. I witnessed a side of my son I didn’t realize he had in him, and I was very impressed.

He didn’t seem to approve of you playing Chicago in the car. What did you and Jack fight about most during filming?

We argued about him texting while he was driving. I get so worried and had to keep reminding him that it’s illegal.

When did you become a history buff ? Were you a good history student?

I’m not so much a history buff, I am more focused on the world wars, especially WWII. I was born in 1948, and my childhood was heavily influenced by the war that had just been fought.

What does Sharon make of your interest in history? Does she share it?

We both have our separate interests — mine being WWII. Sharon’s is the British royal family — she has a collection of memorabilia and could probably answer any question you have on them.

Which historical period would you like to live in and why?

I think this particular moment in history is really interesting. Who would have thought Donald Trump would become a presidential nominee? Life really is full of surprises, and there’s history being made around every corner.

On the show, you seem very interested in whether the astronauts could drink alcohol in space. If NASA offered you a chance to go into space, would you take it, knowing you can’t drink while you’re there?

Absolutely, I’d head up there in a heartbeat. I don’t drink on Earth anymore either — I haven’t had a drink in four years and am very proud of it. I wonder if they have AA on Mars? If so, book me a meeting!

How did your cameo in the new “Ghostbusters” movie come about?

Someone called, and I said yes. The original had been a big film in our household, when the kids were younger. My children were probably more excited than I was [about me being] in the new film. I was only on the set for a few hours. And even though I was not in a scene with the ladies, they all came around to say hello. I felt very honored.
