Feds look into ‘hole’

Eye 10 more heists

-

The FBI is probing the “hole in the roof ” bank-robbery crew in nearly a dozen other unsolved heists dating back to 2009, sources told The Post.

“We’re talking millions of dollars stolen from the vaults and jewelry and other valuables taken from safe deposit boxes,” a lawenforcement source said, adding that authorities were “looking at them for approximately 10 other bank robberies.”

The source said Michael Mazzara, 44, Charles Kerrigan, 40, and Anthony Mascuzzio, 36 — who were arrested Tuesday — planned their robberies well.

“They really did their homework on this stuff before hitting the banks,” the source said of the crew, which was busted by the FBI-NYPD Joint Bank Robbery Violent Crimes Task Force. “They drove around the city looking for targets. They’d go inside the banks and get a sense of the layout and how many workers and customers are there. They go around the perimeter of the bank to see how many windows faced the bank, specifically the rooftops.”

But the crew threw caution to the wind when it came time to spending their loot.

“They were gambling and partying in Las Vegas and Miami,” a source said. “In Vegas, they went from casino to casino and spent a lot of money gambling. They were spending a lot of money on food and having a good time.”

Mazzara, Kerrigan and Mascuzzio are currently facing charges of conspiracy and bank burglary.

They allegedly used a blowtorch to cut holes through the roofs of at least two banks in Brooklyn and Queens before making off with $5 million in cash and valuables.
