MLB: Cubs win Aroldis debut
Javier Baez hit a tiebreaking tworun homer deep into Wrigley Field’s left bleachers in the seventh, Addison Russell added a grand slam and the Cubs beat the White Sox 8-1 on Wednesday night in Chicago. Aroldis Chapman pitched a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts in his Cubs debut.
In Boston, Miguel Cabrera hit a tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning that bounced off the top of the wall and into the Red Sox’s bullpen, lifting the Tigers to a 4-3 victory and a three-game series sweep.
In Baltimore, Nick Hundley broke up Dylan Bundy’s no-hit bid with a sixth-inning homer, and the Rockies used a strong pitching performance by Jon Gray to beat the Orioles 3-1.
In Cleveland, Stephen Strasburg (14-1) shut down the Indians for seven innings and bounced back from his only loss this season, leading the Nationals to a 4-1 victory.
In Los Angeles, Evan Longoria hit a two-run homer and the Rays won 3-1 for their first victory at Dodger Stadium.
