PSL Stadium doesn’t just gouge sports fans

-

AS LONG as there’s such mutual on-air regard between New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Craig Carton and Weekday Boomer Esiason, why not ask Christie to explain this:

Bruce Springsteen’s concert at N.J.’s PSL Stadium, this week: One ticket — $150. Service fee — $14.30. Processing fee — $4.75. Facility fee — $5.00. Print at home fee — $2.50. Final cost of $150 ticket — $176.55.

So, fellas, as long as you have the New Jersey Governor’s regular attention, why not ask why his constituents among sports and entertainment consumers are subjected to such dubious tack-on charges?

Start with, the what and why of a facility fee, then go with, “Why are people charged to print their own tickets?”

While we’re at it, remember when the Jets, pre-PSL Stadium, tried to sucker money from fans to remain on the years-long tickets waiting list?

Well, the Jets are again desperate to sell individual game tickets, and

now multiple-game ticket packages, both vastly undercutting the costs of those who purchased PSLs, which Roger Goodell dutifully pushed as “good investments.” Greed kills!

➤ Tuesday during the Mets-Cardinals game on SNY, Gary Cohen lamented the hardship of the Mets’ schedule in view of ESPN’s purchased ability to change day into late night.

“The Mets’ trip starts in Cincinnati [Sept. 5]. But now it’s after a Sunday night [changed for ESPN] game in New York against the Nats. It’s a one o’clock start in Cincinnati! It’s disgraceful. MLB should never have allowed this to happen.”

Couldn’t agree more, Gary. But where have ya been?

This bait-and-switch Sunday ugliness — MLB’s eagerness to pimp baseball for TV money — is hardly new. How come we never heard it was “disgraceful” when all those Mets’ fans — often planned busloads of them — bought tickets to Sunday afternoon games only for them to become useless when they were switched to 8:10 p.m.?

Where was such indignation from Cohen when Mets “Family Sundays” were moved, so the come-on for kids to “run the bases with Mr. Met” began near midnight?

Why attack MLB on behalf of unfair treatment of the Mets, but not their fans?
