MLB: S.F.’s Moore loses no-no in win

Giants lefty Matt Moore lost his no-hit bid with two outs in the ninth inning on a soft, clean single by Corey Seager, but San Francisco held on to beat the Dodgers 4-0 Thursday night in Los Angeles.

The no-hitter ended on the 133rd and final pitch by Moore, who missed most of the past two seasons after Tommy John surgery. It was Moore’s first win for the Giants since they got him in a trade with the Rays on Aug. 1.

Cole Hamels allowed only two singles over eight innings, Carlos Gomez hit a three-run homer in his first at-bat with Texas and the AL-best Rangers beat the Indians 9-0 in Arlington, Texas.

The Dodgers swapped catchers with Philadelphia, getting Carlos Ruiz and trading A.J. Ellis to the Phillies. The Dodgers also got cash while giving up minor league pitcher Tommy Bergjans and a player to be named or cash.
