One question, Huma: What took so long? The Post’s exclusive story and pics yesterday about pervy pop Anthony Weiner sexting while their tot was in bed with him was the last straw, as Huma Abedin announced she’s dumping him.
Anthony Weiner’s long-suffering wife, Huma Abedin, finally saw the light and kicked the sext maniac to the curb on Monday — after The Post revealed the lewd selfies he sent to a busty brunette, including a crotch shot of himself with the couple’s young son lying next to him.
Abedin, a top Hillary Clinton aide, released a statement saying, in part, “I have made the decision tto separate from my husband.”
But further texts obtained byy The Post show the ex-congress-man had been expecting that news. He told his sext buddy that his nearly six-year marriage had been “busted” by the scandals he had forced Abedin to endure.
The career pol, whose online antics caused him to lose his Queens congressional seat and then a mayoral bid, told the latest object of his lust that he didn’t expect to join Abedin in Washington, DC, if Clinton wins the White House in November.
During their very first exchange, on Jan. 23, 2015, Weiner asked the woman via a Twitter direct message about her “status.”
“Divorced after 16 years,” the 40-something answered.
“I kinda envy that path now that I have a 3 yr old and a busted marriage,” Weiner, 51, replied.
Then, on Nov. 17, 2015, the two engaged in a revealing discussion about Weiner’s future, with the woman, who was based out West, asking whether he would be “moving to DC” if Clinton becomes president.
“That is a very big Q. Honestly don’t know what she will do,” Weiner said.
When the woman insisted, “You’re moving!!!” Weiner sheepishly responded, “I doubt I am under any circumstances.”
In her statement, released through Clinton’s campaign Monday morning, Abedin, 41, an- nounced that she hadd reachedhd hher breaking point “after long and painful consideration and work on my marriage.”
The move came after several allies reached out to Clinton’s campaign to express outrage over The Post’s revelations and were told “some kind of statement would be coming,” according to The New York Times.
The woman with whom Weiner sexted didn’t return requests for comment Monday but previously told The Post: “I know he loves his family, I know he loves his community, but he’s broken.
“I’m not a psychologist. I can’t say how to fix him. I don’t know if divorce or salvaging his marriage would fix him. But he’s broken,” she said.
“I don’t think he’s a bad guy. Maybe he’s an unfulfilled person. He’s in an unhappy marriage.”
On Sunday night, Abedin was photographed looking grim as she left a Clinton fund-raising event in the Hamptons.
Her departure came about 3¹/2 hours after Weiner responded to a Post inquiry about his latest online dalliance, which the woman said continued until this month.
Weiner Sunday admitted that he and the woman “have been friends for some time.”
Weiner came clean to Abedin after The Post reached him Sun- dayday afternoon while the entire family was together in the Hamptons, sources said. Abedin took Monday off to stay with their son, Jordan, as Weiner returned alone to Manhattan.
The couple wed in a lavish July 10, 2010, ceremony officiated by former President Bill Clinton at the swank Oheka Castle in Huntington, LI, and the collapse of their marriage marks the third time Weiner’s sexting has cost him dearly.
He was forced to resign from Congress in 2011 after accidentally posting a similar crotch shot online. He eventually admitted sending selfies to six women.
He claimed to have gone into rehab but then saw his 2013 comeback campaign for mayor go down in flames when it was revealed that he resumed his illicit sexting under the pseudonym “Carlos Danger.”
Weiner and Abedin have been “essentially” separated for months, and she recently stopped wearing her wedding band, reports said Monday.
Clinton insiders blasted Weiner Monday and hailed Abedin for finally calling it quits.
“We’re happy she made a decision to get rid of him. It’s about time. This guy was toxic,’’ said a source close to the Democratic presidential nominee.
“Putting a child in a picture like that is insane. The picture was the last straw.”
Another longtime Clinton assocciate said: “We love Huma. We hhate Anthony. There’s a kid involved! This guy is sick.”
Former Rep. Gary Ackerman, a Queens Democrat who served in Congress with Weiner, recalled being on the House floor when Weiner falsely claimed to be a hacking victim during his first sexting scandal.
“It seems to me Anthony has an addiction. It’s something that he can’t control,” he told The Post.
Hillary Clinton plans to remain in the Hamptons through Tuesday, when she’s due to wrap up her fund-raising trip with a dinner event at Jimmy Buffett’s home featuring performances from both the “Margaritaville” singer and Jon Bon Jovi.
Campaign spokesman Nick Merrill denied a cable-TV report that Abedin would be taking time off from the campaign to work out the details of her separation.
In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, Abedin said Weiner had been “essentially a full-time dad” while she was on the campaign trail.
Meanwhile, Weiner lost his last remaining gig as one of NY1’s “Wise Guys,” the panel of political experts that appears weekly on the show “Inside City Hall.”
He “is on indefinite leave from the station,” a spokesman said.
In September, Page Six exclusively reported that Weiner was ousted as a consultant to the MWW Group public-relations firm after just two months on the job because he was too toxic.
Outside Weiner and Abedin’s apartment near Union Square, neighbors were surprised the marriage lasted as long as it did.
“I’m a wife. I know what I would do. What I would have done a long time ago, too,” Jill Gabbe said.
